Rockingham Eye Associates is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eye diseases and conditions for all family members by using the latest diagnostic instruments and scientifically-proven treatments available.
Our patients come to us for treatment of eye-related problems such as visual blur, distortion, glare, light sensitivity or dimness. Or they may come for an evaluation of eye pain, redness, tearing, itching or growths around the eyes. Others are sent by their family doctor for suspected complications due to diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or cancer. Some patients have no specific complaint but come for a Comprehensive Eye Examination simply for peace of mind that there are no eye problems and to be tested for new eyewear. A patient's eye complaints typically fall into three categories--visual, ocular and disease.
Visual complaints are often related to myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism (visual distortion) and presbyopia (difficulty reading over age 40). Patients with these conditions are usually treated with glasses or contact lenses which are available in the Optical Shop at Rockingham Eye Associates.
Ocular conditions, such as eye pain, redness, tearing, floaters, drooping eyelids, eyelid growths or lacerations, foreign bodies, cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration are common eye problems treated daily in our office. Each problem has its own unique treatment that is dependent on the patient's situation and the diagnosis. Laser and surgical treatments for cataract, glaucoma and other conditions are performed at either of our local hospital outpatient surgery departments.
Disease complaints could be caused by diabetes, hypertension, cancer or rheumatoid arthritis. Should eye related problems caused by a disease be diagnosed by Dr. Haines, consultations with the patient's other medical providers will be requested.
Oculoplastic Surgery is a special service provided at Rockingham Eye Associates.
